What we do

Which doors we replace, and what decides how.

A commercial door is replaced when it no longer closes, latches or holds its hardware, or when the use of the space has changed. The first question is always the frame: whether the new door can hang on it.

Office door replacement

Interior office and suite doors, wood or steel, that have warped, split at the hinges, or been drilled for so many locks that nothing holds. Replaced to fit the existing frame and prepped for the lock you want.

Exterior steel door replacement

Rear and side doors rusted at the bottom edge, bent by a break-in or a forklift, or delaminating from the core. Replaced with a heavier door where the old one was too light for the opening.

Glass storefront door replacement

Aluminum and glass entrance doors with failed pivots, broken welds or cracked corners, replaced as a leaf where the frame is sound, or with the frame where it is not.

Fire-rated door replacement

A labeled door in a stairwell or corridor replaced with a labeled door of the same rating, on a frame whose label still reads, with fire-rated hardware. A plain door there fails the inspection.

Frame repair or replacement

Frames rusted through at the floor, spread at the head, or pulled from the wall are repaired or replaced with the door, so the new door is not hung on the problem that ruined the old one.

Hardware moved or renewed

The lock, closer, hinges and exit device are refitted to the new door or replaced on the same visit, so the door goes back into service complete.

How we work

How a commercial door replacement goes.

We check the frame before we price the door

We measure the opening, read any fire rating label on the door and frame, check the frame for rust, spread and anchoring, and note the hardware on the door now. If the frame is sound, the estimate is for a door prepped to match it; if not, the estimate says so and prices the frame too.

We order the door prepped, not cut on site

The new door is ordered with its hinge locations, lock prep and closer reinforcement matched to the frame and to the hardware you are keeping or buying, so it goes in without field-cutting on a ladder.

We swap it with the least downtime we can

The old door comes off and the new one is hung, the hardware fitted and the closer adjusted in the same visit, at a time planned around your business hours. Before we leave, the door closes and latches on its own, and an exit door opens from inside with one motion.

The quote

What commercial door replacement costs.

The door type and whether the frame stays decide most of the number. Our article on commercial door installation cost goes through each factor; the written estimate names the door, the frame work and the hardware for every opening.

Always included

  • A look at the opening, the frame and the hardware
  • A written estimate: door, frame work and hardware
  • The old door removed and taken away
  • The new door hung and adjusted to the frame
  • Lock, closer and hinges fitted
  • Exit side checked to open with one motion
  • The door tested to close and latch on its own

What changes the number

  • Hollow metal, wood or aluminum and glass
  • Keeping the frame, or replacing it too
  • A fire rating, which needs a labeled door and hardware
  • Single door or a pair
  • Hardware reused, or new locks, closers and exit devices
  • After-hours work to keep the business open

Good to know

Commercial door replacement questions we get asked.

Your question is not here? Call (470) 691-8439 and put it to the crew directly.

Can you replace an office door and keep the frame?

Usually, if the frame is square, anchored and not rusted through. The new door is ordered with its hinges and lock prep matched to the frame. We check that before we quote, not on the day.

What should I send to get a commercial door replacement estimate?

A photo of the whole door from each side, one of the hinge side of the frame and the door's hinge edge, where a fire label would be, the door's width and height if you have them, and the address. Text them to (470) 691-8439 or use the form. Most replacements still need a short visit to measure the opening before the door is ordered.

When should a commercial door be replaced instead of repaired?

When the door itself has failed: rusted through, bent, delaminating, split at the hinges, or so cut up by old hardware that nothing holds. A door that only sags or will not latch is often a repair; our door repair page covers that.

Do you replace hollow metal and steel doors?

Yes. Hollow metal is the steel door most commercial buildings have, on a steel frame. A rusted, dented or delaminating one is replaced with a new hollow metal door ordered to the frame's hinge and lock locations, in the same gauge or a heavier one where the opening takes a beating; on a fire-rated opening, with a door labeled for the same rating.

Can you replace just the glass in a commercial door?

Usually, yes, in a steel, wood or storefront door: new glass of the kind the door requires goes in, tempered in most entrance doors, laminated where security matters, and listed fire-rated glazing in its listed lite kit where the door is fire-rated. If the stiles around the glass are cracked or racked, a new door is the better fix, and the estimate shows both.

Can you replace a fire-rated door?

Yes, with a labeled door of the same rating on a labeled frame, and fire-rated hardware. We read the labels before we order.

Will my business have to close while the door is replaced?

Rarely. The door arrives prepped, so the swap is usually done in one visit, and we plan it around your hours.

Can the new door take our access control?

Yes. We order it prepped for an electric strike, electronic lock or reader, so access control goes in without cutting the new door.
